To My Person

So today has been one of those days where life gives you light when you find yourself in such darkness. Today I was in a very dark place, and throughout the day I did not know how to get out of it until I was asked if I was ready to talk. After a long conversation, meditation, some snacks, and a time to reflect, I decided to write a letter to someone. So this one's for you, "My Person". My person, I have chosen you to be the first person I write this letter to. I know it was probably supposed to be someone that I needed to resolve unfinished business with, but I decided to write to you because if I am going to start this new journey, I would like it to be in a positive way. You are one amazingly strong person, one who, no matter what gets in the way, is always moving forward. No matter how bad things might get, you have to rise above it all. These 18 months it has been a roller coaster of a ride, and you know how much I hate those, but we have always found each other even when the ride has gotten rough. You have shown me ways to look at life in a different light. Since our teenage years, I truly believe that without knowing it, we have been each other's favorite person, we get each other, and truly understand what this journey we call life is all about. I could not ask for a better person to tell me things without sugar-coating it because you are not afraid of how I might react. You have kept my feet on the ground at all times. I know that I can call, and you will listen, and at the end of my ranting and raving, you will say words that will always put it in perspective. We might not agree 100%, but we have learned how to respect each other's opinions, we have learned that the good comes with the ugly, that even when our opinions are different, we can agree to disagree, and to be honest, that is what makes it work. Today, I can say I am grateful for you, for your love, your understanding, your words, and for always making me laugh. Thank you for nurturing my spirit, thank you for loving me, but most importantly for being my person.
